Pet therapy program for at-risk kids awarded $10,000
Gabriel’s Angels has received $10,000 for its at-risk youth programs in Pinal County.
The money was directed to the group by Pinal County Attorney Lando Voyles from funds his office receives through the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act, commonly known as RICO.
Gabriel’s Angels is the only program delivering pet therapy to abused, neglected and at-risk children in Arizona. It provides pet therapy services to more than 115 agencies and serves 13,000 children with 170 pet therapy teams, with the specific goal of ending the cycle of violence as adults.
Four Pinal organizations partner with Gabriel’s Angels   — Community Alliance Against Family Abuse, Head Start programs with Pinal-Gila Community Child Services Inc., Avalon Elementary in Apache Junction and Transitional Learning Community, formerly Mountain Shadows Education Center.
