Voyles: Trial set for man accused of making threats against Kennedy Elementary and Superior Junior/Senior High School employees

FLORENCE, AZ (11/7/13) – On Monday, a trial date of January 6, 2014 was set for Antonio Ramirez, a 39 year old Superior man, accused of making threats against Kennedy Elementary and Superior Junior/Senior High School employees.

On May 10, law enforcement apprehended Ramirez after Pinal County Attorney Lando Voyles filed a Direct Complaint and Petition for Arrest Warrant against him.

The Pinal County Attorney’s Probable Cause statement alleges that on November 17, 2011, Ramirez left a voice mail message at Kennedy Elementary School threatening to burn them and that on April 24, 2013, he made a threat against a school employee stating he would blow her up, everyone at her residence, and both Kennedy Elementary and Superior Junior/Senior High Schools.  Due to the nature of the threats, normal operation of the school was disrupted.

According to the Petition for Arrest warrant and the County Attorney’s Complaint, Ramirez faces three - class 6 felony counts for the alleged incidents and is being held on a $100,000 cash bond.  Specifically, he is accused of two counts of interfering with the peaceful conduct of an educational institution and one count of interfering with an educational institution.

Ramirez is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

“Removing violent offenders from our streets and seeking justice remain my top priorities.  I continue to work proactively with law enforcement to create safer communities and if even the threat of violence exists, I assure my full commitment to removing that threat,” stated Pinal County Attorney Voyles.
