Trials set for Barnett, 47, of Casa Grande

FLORENCE, AZ (9/10/13) – On Tuesday, Pinal County Attorney Lando Voyles announced two trial dates have been set for Kenneth Barnett, 47 year old from Casa Grande, indicted on seven charges arising from two alleged incidents.

Currently held without bond, Barnett is accused of intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly causing physical injury with a deadly weapon to one victim and disturbing the peace by engaging in fighting, violent or seriously disruptive behavior or making unreasonable noise with another victim on May 12, 2013.

Stemming from this incident, Barnett was indicted on June 24 and arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a class 3 dangerous felony; assault, a class 3 misdemeanor; misconduct involving weapons, a class 4 felony; and disorderly conduct, a class 1 misdemeanor.

Regarding a separate incident, Barnett also faces additional counts of misconduct involving weapons, a class 4 felony; disorderly conduct, a class 6 dangerous felony; and discharging a firearm within limits of a municipality, a class 6 felony after being accused of recklessly discharging a deadly weapon.

Barnett’s trail dates are scheduled for December 9 and December 17, 2013 and he is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

Pinal County Attorney Voyles said, “Within our communities, we must root out the worst of the worst and administer justice.  My prosecutors continue to take those accused of dangerous crimes to trial and, being a county with a now 90% conviction rate, the Pinal County Attorney’s Office continues to match the severity of threats individuals pose with an equal vigor for prosecution.”
