ORLANDO, FL (2/26/14) – On Wednesday, the School Safety Advocacy Council announced that Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu, Pinal County Attorney Lando Voyles and the members of the United Dance Crew’s anti-bullying school program was one of six to receive the National Bullying Prevention Award for an Exemplary Bullying Prevention Program.

Nationwide, the School Safety Advocacy Council selects 12 awardees annually, six programs and six individuals, for their efforts to go above and beyond in the field of school safety or for programs creating a positive impact on our schools or communities.

The School Safety Advocacy Council announced awardees at its National Conference on Bullying, which according to their website:

“is the largest of its kind and brings together educators, law enforcement officials, and community representatives to raise awareness and provide valuable information on the issues surrounding bullying.  The National Conference on Bullying will focus on evidence-based strategies and solutions as well as national best practices for preventing bullying and building safe, caring schools, and communities. The National Conference on Bullying is a must attend professional development event for any practitioner dealing with youth on any level.”

Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu stated, “Schools should be a safe environment for students to learn and obtain the skills they need to achieve their career dreams.  We hope to extend this partnership with every school in Pinal County.”

Pinal County Attorney Lando Voyles stated, “Our youth deserve a life free from bullying and we thank educators and parents for your commitment to that end as well.  Sheriff Paul, the United Dance Crew, and I remain dedicated to curbing bullying within Pinal and look forward to continuing to work with our communities’ schools and youth programs in the coming years.  Finally, I want to sincerely thank Dr. Fuller for us as it is truly an honor to work with you and your school administrators.”
