Every day, some type of crime makes headlines in our community. But do you ever wonder how that case makes its way before a judge or how the criminal justice system works? The Pinal County Attorney’s Office has developed a new program to help citizens better understand the process.
The Citizens Academy takes you behind the scenes from a suspect’s initial arrest and booking into the Pinal County Detention Center, through court hearings to sentencing. The day-long program includes a tour of the jail, a chance to sit in on actual court cases and a meet and greet with the Pinal County Attorney.
PCAO welcomes anyone who wants to learn more about the criminal justice system and how prosecutors charge a case. If you are interested in taking part in PCAO’s Citizens Academy you must fill out an application and a consent to a background check. Due to space, the class size must be limited. Coffee, snacks, lunch and drinks will be provided.
