James Kimble started a career in corrections with the Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC) as a Correctional Officer in 1991 at Joliet Correctional Center. Through his first eight years of service James’ primary focus and skills involved institutional security operations and administration until he was promoted from Executive I to Assistant Superintendent of Programs at Illinois Youth Center - St. Charles. Mr. Kimble left IDOC as the Assistant Superintendent of Operations at Illinois Youth Center - Harrisburg to relocate to the State of Arizona. James joined the Arizona Department of Corrections as a Correctional Officer II and quickly promoted to Associate Deputy Warden in 2001 and Deputy Warden in 2002. During his administrative service in ADOC he was assigned to ASPC-Eyman, ASPC-Florence and Central Office in Phoenix, Arizona. Throughout his corrections career he has worked all security custody levels from minimum to maximum with both adult and juvenile male offenders.
Chief Kimble earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Law Enforcement Administration with two minors in Psychology and Industrial Security from Western Illinois University in 1990. He has been a member of the American Correctional Association since 1993 and was recognized as Correctional Officer of the Year (Joliet) in 1996.
