Tips for Business and Industry: Small Steps, Big Solutions

  1. Shift work schedules to allow employees to avoid morning rush-hour traffic.

  2. Allow employees to work at home (telecommuting).

  3. For employees who carpool/vanpool, provide a "Guaranteed Ride Home" should an emergency arise.

  4. Schedule meetings that don’t require driving (meet on site or make conference calls).

  5. Fuel fleet vehicles before 7 a.m. or after dark.

  6. Put off all nonessential trips and activities that require engines on High Pollution Advisory Days.
