Florence, AZ – A Douglas man was sentenced on Monday to eight years in prison for possession of marijuana for sale, a class 2 felony.

Julio Cesar Morales, 31, was arrested by PSCO on June 24, 2010 near Eloy, AZ while transporting more than 30 pounds of drugs from Douglas to Phoenix.

“The diligent work of our prosecutors have made an example of those who intend to profit from illegal narcotics,” said James P. Walsh, Pinal County Attorney. “I am very proud of law enforcement and our Drug Unit whose efforts protect the families of Pinal County.”

This sentence was imposed by the Superior Court in Florence because Morales had a prior felony conviction which is an aggravating factor that can lead to a longer sentence.
