The Pinal County Comprehensive Plan is relying on the input from a variety of sources, including its residents! As project-related events are planned, details will be posted here. We encourage all residents of Pinal County to be active participants in this important project!

Comprehensive Plan Public Hearing Schedule

After two rounds of public and agency review, officials from Pinal County have begun consideration of the Comprehensive Plan. The Planning Commission and Board of Supervisors anticipate hosting two Public Hearings. Thousands of Pinal County residents and stakeholders have contributed to this Plan, and your support and comment are welcome at the following meetings:

February 26, 6 p.m.: Citizens Advisory Committee Meeting*
Update: the Citizen Advisory Committee voted to recommend approval of the Pinal County Comprehensive Plan to the Planning Commission with the following two stipulations:

  • Page 41, insert two sentences in second paragraph as second sentence: “Likewise, development on these borderlands within Native American communities may have impact on property in Pinal County. Therefore two-way communications is necessary between Pinal County, Native American communities and bordering property owners to ensure compatibility.”
  • Page 290: delete Policy 8.2.1.2

May 21, 9 a.m.: Planning Commission Public Hearing

Update: Pinal County Planning Commission reviewed the Public Hearing Comprehensive Plan (February 2009) in 14 study sessions, several public hearings and on, May 21st, they recommended unanimously that the Board of Supervisors approve the Plan. July 1, 9:30 a.m.: Board of Supervisors Work Session
The Pinal County Board of Supervisors has scheduled a Work Session on the Comprehensive Plan Update. The Work Session is scheduled for July 1, and the meeting will start at 9:30 am. The Board meets in Administration Building A, 31 North Pinal Street, Florence AZ. This Work Session is designed to allow the members of the Board to discuss dates and topics for review of the Comprehensive Plan. A Public Hearing will be scheduled in the future, and at that time the Board will invite public testimony about the Plan.

Board of Supervisors: Public Hearing Schedule
The Pinal County Board of Supervisors will hold a series of public hearings on PZ-C-002-09 to be held at the times and dates listed below to consider the adoption of the 2009 Pinal County Comprehensive Plan as recommended by the Pinal County Planning and Zoning Commission on May 21, 2009, to replace the existing Comprehensive Plan for the unincorporated areas of Pinal County.

All hearings are held at 9:30 a.m. in the Board of Supervisors Hearing Room, Building A, 31 N. Pinal Street, Florence, Arizona.

July 29, 9:30 a.m.: Board of Supervisors Public Hearing
This Public Hearing is being held on the proposed Comprehensive Plan as stated above with the main focus on Chapter 1: Introduction and Chapter 2: Pinal County Vision and on the recommendations from the Planning and Zoning Commission and the Citizens Advisory Committee.

August 12, 9:30 a.m.: Board of Supervisors Public Hearing
This Public Hearing is being held on the proposed Comprehensive Plan as stated above with the main focus on Chapter 3: Sense of Community.

August 19, 2009 9:30 a.m.: Board of Supervisors Public Hearing
This Public Hearing is being held on the on the proposed Comprehensive Plan as stated above with the main focus on Chapter 4: Mobility and Connectivity; Chapter 5: Economic Sustainability; and Chapter 6: Open Spaces and Places.

September 2, 9:30 a.m.: Board of Supervisors Public Hearing
This Public Hearing is being held on the proposed Comprehensive Plan as stated above with the main focus on Chapter 7: Environmental Stewardship.

This Public Hearing is being held on the proposed Comprehensive Plan as stated above with the main focus on Chapter 8: Healthy, Happy Residents; Chapter 9: Quality Educational Opportunities: and Chapter 10, Implementation.

Planning Commission: Public Hearing
The Planning Commission will be holding a hearing to review and comment on the changes to the Draft Comprehensive Plan which have been proposed by the Board of Supervisors. The Commission will be reviewing these changes on October 15, 2009 starting at 9:00 am. The Commission meets at 31 North Pinal Street, Building F, in the EOC Room.
