Environmental Investigations

Pinal County has two investigators and 1 deputy county attorney handling desert dumping and other environmental investigations.

Inspectors average between 130 and 150 site inspections per year. Since pursuing civil penalties in desert dumping cases, the conviction rate has been nearly perfect. Fines can be as high as $15,000, liens can be assessed and property owners can be court ordered to clean up.
