Florence, Ariz. – On September 08, 2009 Jesus Quinonez-Valaquez (42), accused of murdering his wife in August 2009, died in his cell of apparent suicide.

Quinonez- Valasquez, a Mexican National, was being held in the Pinal County Adult Detention Center with no bond, charged with the stabbing death of his wife, Alma Ramos (41), on August 17, 2009 in Coolidge, Arizona.

Quinonez-Valasquez was housed alone and assigned to Administrative Segregation. During a routine security check at approximately 10:30 pm on Tuesday evening, Quinonez-Valasquez was found laying face down in his cell. An emergency response team, including medical personnel, was immediately summoned to render first aid. The inmate was pronounced deceased by medical personnel at approximately 10:44 pm. A suicide note was found in the cell.

Pinal County Sheriff’s Office investigators were contacted and responded to the scene. The decedent was released to Pinal County Coroner's Office and transported to the Pima County Medical Examiner for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
