Michele Forney became the Elections Director in April, 2015. She is an attorney with a long history of public service.

Forney earned a Bachelor of Science from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and her law degree (J.D.) from the University of Dayton School of Law in Dayton, Ohio. She moved to Arizona in 1999 and quickly made it her home.

After several years in private practice, Forney worked as a government lawyer with the Arizona Attorney General’s Office from 2007 through 2014. In 2011, Forney transferred to the Solicitor General’s Office, where she was the primary attorney for the Arizona Secretary of State’s Office. And it was there that Forney was bitten by the elections bug. In representing the Secretary, Forney had an opportunity to travel throughout Arizona to meet and work with elections officials in all of the fifteen counties. In addition, she worked on numerous election lawsuits on behalf of the Secretary. Forney is passionate about integrity and customer service throughout the elections process.
