Date: 8/5/2014
The Pinal County Public Health Services District is pleased to offer no-cost Healthy Living Workshops. Individuals with diabetes, arthritis, heart disease or any other chronic condition are encouraged to attend. Topics that are covered include: dealing with difficult emotions, managing symptoms, goal setting, problem solving, nutrition, understanding medications, making informed treatment decisions, and increasing strength and stamina through better fitness.

This workshop was developed by Dr. Kate Lorig at Stanford University. Participants demonstrate significant improvements in the areas covered. They also report fewer hospitalizations and outpatient visits.

Pinal County Public Health Director, Tom Schryer states, “Living with chronic conditions can be challenging. It’s important to be aware that people with chronic illnesses can improve their health and quality of life by learning to manage their day to day activities.”

Healthy Living Workshops consist of six weekly sessions. The first workshop session will be held on Monday, August 25, 2014 from 9:00am to 11:30am at the Public Health Clinic located at 36235 N. Gantzel Road in San Tan Valley. Class size is limited, and preregistration is required. To register, call 1-866-960-0633.
