CAP National Recreation Trail

The Pinal County Board of Supervisors approved the Master Plan for the Pinal County Segment of the Central Arizona Project (CAP) National Recreation Trail in November 2015. 

Pinal County is beginning the implementation of the CAP national Recreation Trail through Pinal County.  Stay tuned for the first segment to open soon, connecting Park Link Road to the Pinal/Pima County line.  We anticipate having the grand opening in the fall of 2019.

 Where: Adjacent to the Central Arizona Canal (CAP) from the south county line south of Redrock to the north County line adjacent to the City of Apache Junction.

Approximate length: +/- 110 miles

Notable Features:

  • Planned multi-use non-motorized trail opportunity.
  • Linking ongoing CAP trail projects in Pima County and Maricopa County.
  • Potential linkages to multiple cities in Pinal County.
  • Potential linkages to State Parks and future County Regional Parks.
  • Potential link to the conceptual Sun Corridor Trail a multi-use, non-motorized trail from the border with Mexico to Clark County, Nevada.
