Eagle Crest Ranch Letter

Dear Sheriff Babeu,

The homeowners of Eagle Crest Ranch thank you for your presentation at the Quarterly Neighborhood Watch meeting on August 20, 2009. When you began by saying “before you leave here tonight, you will know what we are doing for you,” it was an immense promise and implied that good things were happening. You delivered! As you observed, the meeting was standing-room only with over 130 residents, not including children. We started the meeting with 15 block watch captains. At the end of the meeting, we had 25. We will need a bigger room next time.

Your presentation explained your transparency policy, training plan, technology insertion, the grant program, response time reduction plan, but most of all, you shared your vision of the future of law enforcement on our beat. You explained, we listened, and our expectations were far exceeded.

After talking with several of the residents after the meeting, the take away was about what you are doing, not a promise of what you will do. This does not imply we are not looking to the future, it just means we understand that you are a leader that takes action. (We will miss you when you go to represent us in Congress.)

We would like to recognize the excellent presentation by Lieutenant Scott Elliott on the status of criminal activity in our area and how the officers work with the residents to identify suspects. The presentation by Detective Mike Hughey was well done and very helpful in explaining how his efforts led to the arrests of criminals.

The standing ovation given to Detective Mike Hughey on presentation of a commendation to him was spontaneous and demonstrates the excitement and involvement of Eagle Crest Ranch to the exceptional performance of Detective Hughey.

You and your team have energized our community. We notice the change, applaud the ongoing improvement, and are excited about our future of working together.

With warmest regards,

William D. Daniels
Neighborhood Watch Coordinator, Eagle Crest Ranch
