Around 8:30 this morning, Pinal County Sheriff Deputies stopped a pickup truck for speeding on Highway 77, just north of Oracle.

Deputies found 633 pounds of marijuana in the bed of the truck.  The bundles were wrapped with layers of plastic, dryer sheets and tar paper in an effort to conceal the drugs.

"This is just an example of what's coming into our state every day.  Our deputies are working around the clock to make sure we are taking these drugs off the streets before they make it to other cities across the nation.  Our top priority is to make sure we keep the people of Pinal County and Arizona safe." Said Sheriff Mark Lamb.

The driver was the only suspect in the truck.  The suspect, 43-year old David Frank Vanelsacker, was arrested and booked into the Pinal County Jail.  He's facing several charges to include:

Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Marijuana for Sale, Transportation of Marijuana.
