On Thursday at 5:38pm, a Pinal County K9 deputy pulled over a woman at mile marker 203 on the I-10 for several traffic violations.

The driver, 22-year-old Iris Rios from Douglas, was the only person in the SUV. She told the deputy she was traveling to Phoenix to visit a relative in the hospital. But Rios could not tell the deputy where the relative was being treated.

The deputy noticed several inconsistencies in her story and obtained consent to search the SUV. Inside, the deputy found 7 kilos of Cocaine in a hidden compartment of the vehicle.

Rios is now charged with the following:

  • Possession of Cocaine
  • Possession of Cocaine for Sale
  • Transportation of Cocaine for Sale
