On Thursday, January 23rd, 2014 at 3:40 p.m. the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office was called to a residence in San Tan Valley regarding a reported case of sexual misconduct with a minor. When deputies arrived at the residence, they spoke with the mother of the alleged victim.
The mother reported on Tuesday, January 21st, at approximately 2 a.m. she was asleep in her bed. While in her bedroom, she could hear “knocking sounds by the stairs and on the wall
.” She went in investigate and she found her 15-year-old son’s bedroom door locked. She began knocking on the door and when he opened it, she could see a naked female crouching down on the floor between the bed and wall. The mother yelled at the female to get out of her house. The female quickly put on her clothes and jumped out of the two story bedroom window to the ground below. The female was seen by the mother limping as she walked down the street away from the home.
Approximately 30 minutes later, the mother reported someone was knocking on the front door of the home. The mother said when the door was answered, a family acquaintance by the name of Keri Gonzalez (age 34 of Marana
) was standing there. The mother said that she had previously told Keri to stay away from her son after she caught her “flirting
” with him. Keri reported that she had broken her ankle when she jumped out of the window. Keri then left the residence once again.
The 15-year-old male victim was interviewed and he told the deputy, Keri had come over to the residence after his mother had fallen asleep. She brought alcohol with her and the two of them drank. He and Keri had sex twice that evening before his mother caught them in bed. After his mother caught them in bed, Keri jumped out the window so that his mother wouldn’t find out that it was her.
On Saturday, January 25th, 2014 Keri Gonzalez was located and interviewed. Keri had a cast on her ankle from where she broke her foot after jumping out the second floor window. She provided the deputy with information which helped to verify what the mother and victim had said occurred. She also lied to the deputy about where she lived.
Keri Gonzalez was booked into the Pinal County Jail for Sexual Misconduct with a Minor and Providing False Information to a Peace Officer.
Sheriff Paul Babeu, “This case is an example of how serious law enforcement takes any allegation of reported sexual abuse against a child. The overwhelming majority of children who are sexually abused are abused by someone they know and trust. Most people think of males committing sex crimes against females but this case is just as serious as it deals with an adult female committing the sex crime against a juvenile male. It is important adults with children encourage their children to know they can talk with them about anything. If you suspect a child has been sexually abused, report it immediately to law enforcement
