On Thursday, August 1st, 2013, detectives from the Pinal County Sheriff’s Property Crimes Unit severed a search warrant in the 8900 block of West Raven, Arizona City. The warrant was conducted after the detectives developed probable cause to believe David Versluis (age 25 of Arizona City) and Ashley Pagels (age 23 of Arizona City) had committed a burglary on July 31st, 2013 and a theft on July 29th, 2013.

Witnesses had observed David and Ashley fleeing the scene of the burglary and they had stolen a wallet from inside of a vehicle on the theft case. David later used the credit card he found inside of the wallet at a business in Arizona City.

During the execution of the warrant, detectives had to make forced entry into the residence. Both David and Ashley were taken into custody without incident.

Inside of the residence, detectives recovered property taken in at least 5 additional burglaries and property from several reported thefts which had occurred in Arizona City.

David and Ashley were both booked into the Pinal County Adult Detention Center for numerous counts of Burglary and Possession of Stolen Property. Additionally David was also booked for Theft of a Credit Card, Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card and Forgery.

Sheriff Paul Babeu stated, “Inside the house, detectives recovered property stolen in at least 5 other burglaries and property from several other thefts in Arizona City. Detectives were able to recover flat screen televisions, tools, multiple garage door openers, vehicle keys and other property. We also recovered a stolen military style ballistic vest. These are more serious crimes since victims not only lose their property, but they also lose their feeling of safety in their own home. Our deputies and detectives did a great job with these serial criminals and we shall continue to be relentless in going after these bad guys.”
