On Saturday, September 28th, 2013 at 11:25 p.m. the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office assisted Border Patrol with a subject they had in custody for illegal entry into the United States. The suspect was identified as Antonio Velasquez-Hernandez (age 36 of Mexico).

A check on his fingerprints through the National Criminal Justice database showed he also goes by the name of Eliberto Morales (age 36). Under the name Eliberto, he had an outstanding felony warrant out of Naples, Florida. The warrant was for Aggravated Assault on a Police Officer and Resisting Arrest. The warrant also stated he has violent tendencies and a history of violence and other prior arrests for resisting arrests.

Antonio was asked about the alias name and admitted it was a name he assumed to avoid detection while crossing into the United States illegally.

Antonio was booked into the Pinal County Adult Detention Center for Identity Theft and a hold was placed on the felony warrant so that he can be extradited back to Florida.

Sheriff Paul Babeu stated, “Often time’s illegal immigrants commit serious crimes while using false names. In this case, Antonio Hernandez goes by the name of Eliberto Morales in another state. This is another example of the type of criminal activity we come across on a daily basis in Pinal County as a result of an unsecured southern border.”
