Types of Presentence Reports
CRIMINAL HISTORY
- It is simply a history of the defendant’s past criminal convictions and arrests.
- This does not require an interview of the defendant in order to complete.
- Includes a recommendation based on the stipulations of the plea agreement.
SHORT FORM PRESENTENCE REPORT
- This type of presentence report includes the defendant’s criminal history, but does not require an interview with the defendant.
- This includes the summary of the current offense, a recommendation provided by the Probation Officer, and the defendant’s criminal history, along with any victim input.
LONG FORM OR FULL PRESENTENCE REPORT
- This type of presentence report requires the defendant’s participation through a scheduled appointment/interview with your assigned presentence Probation Officer.
- This includes the summary of the current offense, the defendant’s statement, any victim statement, an evaluation and recommendation, and the defendant’s criminal history.
