About Judge Danielle Harris

Danielle Harris was born and raised in Illinois. She earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree with Honorary Distinction in Sociology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in May of 2000. She moved to Arizona in August of 2000 to attend Arizona State University College of Law, earning her Juris Doctorate Degree in May of 2003. While attending law school, she served as a law clerk for a small firm in Mesa, handling mostly education law, 501 (c)(3) grants and other fellowships for charter schools and other small non-profit corporations. She continued working for that firm after being admitted to practice law in May of 2004. In August of 2005, she transitioned to criminal law, working as a Deputy County Attorney for the Maricopa County Attorneys’ Office. As a Deputy County Attorney, she worked in several divisions to include: The Regional Court Center, Juvenile, Trial Group, with the majority of her work being in the Sex Crimes Division handling serious sex-related felony and computer forensic cases. In September 2012, she became an Administrative Law Judge with the Arizona Department of Transportation in their Executive Hearing Office (EHO). While working at EHO, she served as a Judge Pro Tempore for Maricopa County Superior Court in 2013 and then Pinal County Superior Court starting in 2014. In February of 2015, she was appointed to serve as a Court Commissioner with Tempe Municipal Court presiding over criminal misdemeanors, protective orders, as well as civil traffic, zoning and ordinance cases. While in that role, she began teaching for the Judicial College of Arizona. In June 2021, she accepted an appointment by Presiding Judge Stephen McCarville to serve as a Superior Court Commissioner.
