PROP 207 REVENUE HELPS PCSO PURCHASE NEW VEHICLES AND FUND DEPUTY OVERTIME Posted: 8/30/2021 12:00 AM |
As part of the Smart and Safe Arizona Act (Prop 207) passed by Arizona voters last year, a percentage of the tax revenue raised from recreational marijuana sales is earmarked for funding local law enforcement agencies.
Recently, The Governor's Office of Highway Safety awarded the Pinal County Sheriff's Office with $228,000 from Prop 207 revenue funding.
Those funds have been used to purchase two new police packaged Ford Mustangs, outfitted with the necessary equipment, as well as overtime hours for our Deputies during future DUI Task Force events.
In 2020, PCSO Deputies made a total of 214 DUI arrests, 133 of them being drug DUI. The average BAC for the alcohol arrests was 0.211
"I am grateful for the continued support from the Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety," said Sheriff Mark Lamb. "These newly awarded funds will help the PCSO Traffic Unit continue their mission of protecting Pinal County motorists from impared or reckless drivers." | |
